This is a picture of my mom on her wedding day. I have always thought this was a particularly beautiful picture of her.
By turning this photograph into a conceptual artwork of my own, and placing it in a museum’s collection, I am paying her back for years of raising me and more particularly supporting me as an artist.
If I’m going to put something in a museum, it ought to be something that makes that act meaningful. Even if this doesn’t exactly make things come full circle, it does make it come “full oval.”
This piece was conceived for Joanna Spitzner’s Collection-Exchange project.
