I informed the visitors of the opening reception to an exhibition at the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art that I was in the middle of doing a performance, but that I did not know what that performance was (although I was sure that it would be better in hindsight).
It was up to the gallery-goers to decide what I was doing. The gallery staff and I polled the gallery-goers throughout the night, and in the end came up with a consensus answer: I was posing as a photographer so I could get free food and drinks while observing and analyzing people’s behavior for a future project.
There is no photographic documentation of this performance. It is best if you imagine it.
