Many years ago, I decided to limit myself to never saying “never” again.
This stipulation only applies to speaking aloud, not to writing or thinking.
I am allowed to say “never” when describing this piece to other people.
If I should happen to say “never,” I must select a random word in the closest dictionary, which I will then be banned from using for the next month.
I have screwed this up multiple times. It is also quite clear that “never” really only lasted several years, and I have not really paid a heck of a lot of attention to my use of “never” since. However, the penalty still applies.
I started this performance in an era where I would design posters for each performance after I did them, then I would display the poster, as seen here, in future exhibitions.
